Robert's 40 b-day party
On July 15, 2006, I gave my husband a "SURPRISE" 40th birthday party, but the SURPRISES really started on Thursday, July 13, 2006.
Surprise #1
Late Thursday night my sister, her 2 daughters & a friend came to town, but also brought along surprise #1, my Brother. They came in so late that Russell woke Robert up. It was great seeing his reaction. I think he was trying to see if he was dreaming.
Surprise #2
Friday morning my brother took Robert golfing. While he was golfing Surprise #2 came over. That is our friends from Texas. When Robert came home from golfing, Timmy & his son Kelly were hiding to surprise him. Timmy snuck up behind him. All Robert could do was giving him this funny look & ask, "What the hell are you doing here?" It was great. A few minutes later, Kelly hiding under the kitchen table made his cell phone ring & slid it across the floor. I picked it up and handed it to Robert & told him it was for him. Kelly then snuck up behind him and scared the living SHIT out of him. I have never seen Robert jump up so high in my live. IT WAS GREAT!!!
Timmy invited us to go to the park & celebrate with Erin (his wife’s) family. Robert said sure we didn’t have anything planned…Little did he know… He was hook, line & sinker.
Surprise#3
PARTY DAY!!!
We show up at the park, low and behold, my dad is in front of us on his motorcycle paying the parking fee. I thought great the cover is blown. Robert didn’t even know it was my dad. We parked, unloaded the car & started walking to the picnic site. I saw our friends daughter (from Texas), and asked her where our site as at. She pointed to the area. Then another little boy (no way affiliated to the Texas family) said hi to Robert. That got the rusty gears running in his brain. Then he saw his brother & niece & everyone yelled, “SURPRISE”. All he said to me was, “I can’t believe you got me again.” It was perfect.
Surprise #4
Robert’s brothers (garage) band “ASD played some of Robert’s favorite song. They even played Robert’s & my wedding song, “In your eyes” by Peter Gabriel. It was great. His brother, who is the drummer, got up and sang a song for him.
What a great day…
Truthfully I am glad it is all over. That was the hardest secret I have ever had to keep.
